How To Install saga on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install saga on Debian 10.
What is saga
saga is:
SAGA GIS (System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses) is a free and open source geographic information system used for editing and analysing spatial data. It includes a large number of modules for the analysis of vector (point, line and polygon), table, grid and image data. Among others the package includes modules for geostatistics, image classification, projections, simulation of dynamic processes (hydrology, landscape development) and terrain analysis. The functionality can be accessed through a GUI, the command line or by using the C++ API.
There are three methods to install saga on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install saga Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install saga using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install saga
Install saga Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install saga using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install saga
Install saga Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install saga using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install saga
How To Uninstall saga on Debian 10
To uninstall only the saga package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove saga
Uninstall saga And Its Dependencies
To uninstall saga and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove saga
Remove saga Configurations and Data
To remove saga configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge saga
