How To Install jftp on Debian 9

What is jftp
jftp is:
JFtp is a graphical Java network and file transfer client. It supports FTP using its own FTP API and various other protocols like SMB, SFTP, NFS, HTTP, and file I/O using third party APIs. It includes many advanced features such as recursive directory up/download, browsing FTP servers while transferring files, FTP resuming and queueing, browsing the LAN for Windows shares, and more. Multiple connections can open at a time in a Mozilla-style tabbed browsing environment.
There are three methods to install jftp
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jftp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install jftp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jftp
Install jftp Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install jftp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jftp
Install jftp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install jftp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jftp
How To Uninstall jftp on Debian 9
To uninstall only the jftp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jftp
Uninstall jftp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jftp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jftp
Remove jftp Configurations and Data
To remove jftp
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jftp
