How To Install gammu-smsd on Debian 10

What is gammu-smsd
gammu-smsd is:
Gammu is command line utility and library to work with mobile phones from many vendors. Support for different models differs, but basic functions should work with majority of them. Program can work with contacts, messages (SMS, EMS and MMS), calendar, todos, filesystem, integrated radio, camera, etc. It also supports daemon mode to send and receive SMSes.
Currently supported phones include:
- Many Nokia models.
- Alcatel BE5 (501/701), BF5 (715), BH4 (535/735).
- AT capable phones (Siemens, Nokia, Alcatel, IPAQ).
- OBEX and IrMC capable phones (Sony-Ericsson, Motorola).
- Symbian phones through gnapplet.
This package contains Gammu SMS Daemon and tool to inject messages into the queue.
There are three methods to install gammu-smsd
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gammu-smsd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gammu-smsd
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gammu-smsd

After updating apt database, We can install gammu-smsd

Install gammu-smsd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gammu-smsd
using aptitude

How To Uninstall gammu-smsd on Debian 10
To uninstall only the gammu-smsd
package we can use the following command:
