What is fonts-ipaexfont
fonts-ipaexfont is:
IPAex Fonts are JIS X 0213:2004 compliant OpenType fonts based on TrueType outlines provided by Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) from 2010. The older JIS X 0213:2000 font gliphs are also supported via IVS (Ideographic Variation Sequence). These are suitable for both display and printing.
These new fonts are developed from IPA Fonts to provide the best balance for the Japanese documentation mixed with Western characters by following Japanese printing tradition. Japanese characters (Kanji, Kana and punctuation marks) are full width mono-space pitch, and Western characters are proportional pitch.
This metapackage depends on fonts-ipaexfont-{mincho,gothic} packages to provide IPAex Mincho and IPAex Gothic Fonts.
There are three methods to install fonts-ipaexfont on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fonts-ipaexfont Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-ipaexfont using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-ipaexfont using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fonts-ipaexfont
How To Uninstall fonts-ipaexfont on Debian 10
To uninstall only the fonts-ipaexfont package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fonts-ipaexfont
Uninstall fonts-ipaexfont And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fonts-ipaexfont and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fonts-ipaexfont
Remove fonts-ipaexfont Configurations and Data
To remove fonts-ipaexfont configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fonts-ipaexfont
Remove fonts-ipaexfont configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fonts-ipaexfont configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fonts-ipaexfont
