What is ghostscript

This package provides useful conversion utilities based on Ghostscript software, for converting PS, PDF and other document formats between each other. Ghostscript is a suite of software providing an interpreter for Adobe Systems’ PostScript (PS) and Portable Document Format (PDF) page description languages. Its primary purpose includes displaying (rasterization & rendering) and printing of document pages, as well as conversions between different document formats.

We can use yum or dnf to install ghostscript on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ghostscript.

Install ghostscript on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install ghostscript using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ghostscript

Install ghostscript on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install ghostscript using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install ghostscript

How To Uninstall ghostscript on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the ghostscript package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ghostscript
