What is memtest86+

Memtest86+ is a thorough stand-alone memory test for x86 and x86-64 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are only a quick check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86+. The ELF version should be used for booting from grub, and avoids the following errors “Error 7 “Error 13 “Error 28 The script ‘/usr/sbin/memtest-setup’ can be run (as root) to add the memtest86+ entry to your GRUB boot menu.

We can use yum or dnf to install memtest86+ on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install memtest86+.

Install memtest86+ on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install memtest86+ using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install memtest86+

Install memtest86+ on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.
