How To Install gmp on Fedora 34
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gmp
on Fedora 34.
What is gmp
The gmp package contains GNU MP, a library for arbitrary precision arithmetic, signed integers operations, rational numbers and floating point numbers. GNU MP is designed for speed, for both small and very large operands. GNU MP is fast because it uses fullwords as the basic arithmetic type, it uses fast algorithms, it carefully optimizes assembly code for many CPUs’ most common inner loops, and it generally emphasizes speed over simplicity/elegance in its operations. Install the gmp package if you need a fast arbitrary precision library. gmp 1 6.2.0 6.fc34 i686 309 k gmp-6.2.0-6.fc34.src.rpm fedora A GNU arbitrary precision library http LGPLv3+ or GPLv2+ The gmp package contains GNU MP, a library for arbitrary precision arithmetic, signed integers operations, rational numbers and floating point numbers. We can use yum
or dnf
to install gmp
on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gmp.
Install gmp on Fedora 34 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:
Fedora 34 - x86_64 20 kB/s | 6.6 kB 00:00
Fedora 34 openh264 (From Cisco) - x86_64 1.4 kB/s | 989 B 00:00
Fedora Modular 34 - x86_64 68 kB/s | 6.5 kB 00:00
