How To Install debbuild on Fedora 34

debbuild is Build Debian-compatible .deb packages from RPM .spec files

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install debbuild on Fedora 34.

What is debbuild

debbuild attempts to build Debian-friendly semi-native packages from RPM spec files, RPM-friendly tarballs, and RPM source packages (.src.rpm files). It accepts most of the options rpmbuild does, and should be able to interpret most spec files usefully.

We can use yum or dnf to install debbuild on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install debbuild.

Install debbuild on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install debbuild using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install debbuild
