How To Install ovn-controller-vtep on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install ovn-controller-vtep
on Debian 9.
What is ovn-controller-vtep
ovn-controller-vtep is:
ovn-controller-vtep is the local controller daemon in OVN, the Open Virtual Network, for VTEP enabled physical switches. It connects up to the OVN Southbound database over the OVSDB protocol, and down to the VTEP database over the OVSDB protocol.
ovn-controller-vtep provides the ovn-controller-vtep binary for controlling vtep gateways.
There are three methods to install ovn-controller-vtep
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ovn-controller-vtep Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-controller-vtep
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ovn-controller-vtep
Install ovn-controller-vtep Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-controller-vtep
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ovn-controller-vtep
Install ovn-controller-vtep Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-controller-vtep
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ovn-controller-vtep
How To Uninstall ovn-controller-vtep on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ovn-controller-vtep
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ovn-controller-vtep
Uninstall ovn-controller-vtep And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ovn-controller-vtep
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ovn-controller-vtep
Remove ovn-controller-vtep Configurations and Data
To remove ovn-controller-vtep
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ovn-controller-vtep
Remove ovn-controller-vtep configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ovn-controller-vtep
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ovn-controller-vtep
