How To Install ovn-common on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is ovn-common
ovn-common is:
OVN, the Open Virtual Network, is a system to support virtual network abstraction. OVN complements the existing capabilities of OVS to add native support for virtual network abstractions, such as virtual L2 and L3 overlays and security groups.
ovn-common provides components required by other OVN packages.
There are three methods to install ovn-common
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ovn-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ovn-common

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ovn-common
Install ovn-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ovn-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ovn-common
How To Uninstall ovn-common on Debian 9
To uninstall only the ovn-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ovn-common
Uninstall ovn-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ovn-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ovn-common
Remove ovn-common Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ovn-common
