How To Install libtogl1 on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install libtogl1
on Debian 9.
What is libtogl1
libtogl1 is:
Togl is a Tk widget for OpenGL rendering. Togl was originally based on OGLTK, written by Benjamin Bederson at the University of New Mexico. Togl’s main features are:
- unifies Microsoft Windows, X11 (Linux/IRIX/…), and Mac OS X Aqua support
- support for requesting stencil, accumulation, alpha buffers, etc.
- multiple OpenGL drawing windows

There are three methods to install libtogl1
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install libtogl1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libtogl1
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libtogl1

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libtogl1
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libtogl1
Install libtogl1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libtogl1
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libtogl1
How To Uninstall libtogl1 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libtogl1
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libtogl1
Uninstall libtogl1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libtogl1
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libtogl1
Remove libtogl1 Configurations and Data
To remove libtogl1
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libtogl1
Remove libtogl1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
