What is libgl1-mesa-glx
libgl1-mesa-glx is:
Mesa is a 3-D graphics library with an API which is very similar to that of OpenGL. To the extent that Mesa utilizes the OpenGL command syntax or state machine, it is being used with authorization from Silicon Graphics, Inc. However, the authors make no claim that Mesa is in any way a compatible replacement for OpenGL or associated with Silicon Graphics, Inc.
This version of Mesa provides GLX and DRI capabilities: it is capable of both direct and indirect rendering. For direct rendering, it can use DRI modules from the libgl1-mesa-dri package to accelerate drawing.
This package does not include the modules themselves: these can be found in the libgl1-mesa-dri package.
There are three methods to install libgl1-mesa-glx
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get

Install libgl1-mesa-glx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgl1-mesa-glx

Install libgl1-mesa-glx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgl1-mesa-glx
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgl1-mesa-glx
How To Uninstall libgl1-mesa-glx on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libgl1-mesa-glx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgl1-mesa-glx
Uninstall libgl1-mesa-glx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgl1-mesa-glx
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgl1-mesa-glx
Remove libgl1-mesa-glx Configurations and Data
To remove libgl1-mesa-glx
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgl1-mesa-glx
Remove libgl1-mesa-glx configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
