How To Install dalvik-exchange on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install dalvik-exchange on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is dalvik-exchange
dalvik-exchange is:
Dalvik is a process virtual machine in Google’s Android operating system that executes applications written for Android.
dalvik-exchange is the tool that takes in class files and reformulates them for consumption in the VM. It also does a few other things.
This program is officially named “dx” but in order to avoid naming conflict with OpenDX in Debian it is renamed to “dalvik-exchange”.
This package also provides the “mainDexClasses” program.
There are three methods to install dalvik-exchange on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dalvik-exchange Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dalvik-exchange using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dalvik-exchange
Install dalvik-exchange Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dalvik-exchange using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dalvik-exchange
Install dalvik-exchange Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dalvik-exchange using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dalvik-exchange
How To Uninstall dalvik-exchange on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the dalvik-exchange package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dalvik-exchange
Uninstall dalvik-exchange And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dalvik-exchange and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dalvik-exchange
Remove dalvik-exchange Configurations and Data
To remove dalvik-exchange configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dalvik-exchange
Remove dalvik-exchange configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dalvik-exchange configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dalvik-exchange
