How To Install ipig on Ubuntu 22.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ipig
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is ipig
ipig is:
iPiG targets the integration of peptide spectrum matches (PSMs) from mass spectrometry (MS) peptide identifications into genomic visualisations provided by genome browser such as the UCSC genome browser (http://genome.ucsc.edu/).
iPiG takes PSMs from the MS standard format mzIdentML (*.mzid) or in text format and provides results in genome track formats (BED and GFF3 files), which can be easily imported into genome browsers.
There are three methods to install ipig
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ipig Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ipig
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ipig
Install ipig Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ipig
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ipig
Install ipig Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install ipig

sudo aptitude -y install ipig
How To Uninstall ipig on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the ipig
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ipig
Uninstall ipig And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ipig
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ipig
Remove ipig Configurations and Data
To remove ipig
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ipig
