How To Install pamtester on Ubuntu 22.04

Pamtester is a tiny utility program to test the pluggable authentication modules (PAM) facility, which is a de facto standard of unified authentication management mechanism in many unices and similar OSes including Solaris, HP-UX, *BSD, MacOSX and Linux.
While specifically designed to help PAM module authors to test their modules, that might also be handy for system administrators interested in building a centralised authentication system using common standards such as NIS, SASL and LDAP.
There are three methods to install pamtester on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pamtester Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pamtester using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pamtester using apt by running the following command:

Install pamtester Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pamtester using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pamtester
How To Uninstall pamtester on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the pamtester package we can use the following command:

To uninstall pamtester and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pamtester
Remove pamtester Configurations and Data
To remove pamtester configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pamtester
Remove pamtester configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
