Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install oxref on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is oxref

oxref is:

The program oxref writes to the standard output stream a cross reference of symbols defined in unstripped object files and/or libraries.

It demangles C++ symbols and can (probably) be used for a large range of languages.

Oxref does not interpret the object files and libraries itself, but calls objdump(1) to do so. The output produced by objdump is then filtered by oxref, generating the cross reference listing.

There are three methods to install oxref on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install oxref Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install oxref using apt-get by running the following command:
