How To Install microsocks on Ubuntu 22.04

What is microsocks
microsocks is:
MicroSocks - multithreaded, small, efficient SOCKS5 server, is a SOCKS5 service that you can run on your remote boxes to tunnel connections through them, if for some reason SSH doesn’t cut it for you.
- It’s very lightweight, and very light on resources too.
- It’s also designed to be robust: it handles resource exhaustion gracefully by simply denying new connections, instead of calling abort() as most other programs do these days.
- Another plus is ease-of-use: no config file necessary, everything can be done from the command line and doesn’t even need any parameters for quick setup.
There are three methods to install microsocks
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install microsocks Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install microsocks
using apt-get

Install microsocks Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install microsocks
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install microsocks
How To Uninstall microsocks on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the microsocks
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove microsocks

To uninstall microsocks
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove microsocks
Remove microsocks Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge microsocks
