What is eyewitness

eyewitness is:

EyeWitness is designed to take screenshots of websites, provide some server header info, and identify default credentials if possible.

Inspiration came from Tim Tomes’s PeepingTom Script.

EyeWitness is designed to run on Kali Linux. It will auto detect the file you give it with the -f flag as either being a text file with URLs on each new line, nmap xml output, or nessus xml output. The -t (timeout) flag is completely optional, and lets you provice the max time to wait when trying to render and screenshot a web page. The –open flag, which is optional, will open the URL in a new tab within Firefox.

There are three methods to install eyewitness on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install eyewitness Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install eyewitness using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install eyewitness

Install eyewitness Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install eyewitness using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install eyewitness

Install eyewitness Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install eyewitness using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install eyewitness

How To Uninstall eyewitness on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the eyewitness package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove eyewitness

Uninstall eyewitness And Its Dependencies

To uninstall eyewitness and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove eyewitness

Remove eyewitness Configurations and Data

To remove eyewitness configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge eyewitness

Remove eyewitness configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove eyewitness configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
