How To Install epsilon-bin on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install epsilon-bin on Kali Linux.

What is epsilon-bin

epsilon-bin is:

Epsilon is C library for Wavelet based lossy image compression. Wavelet-driven compressors are know to be much more effective than traditional DCT-based ones (like JPEG).

At the moment, the program supports about 30 different wavelet filters, runs in parallel in multi-threaded and MPI environments, can process huge images and much more.

This package contains some useful tools to compress/uncompress images.

There are three methods to install epsilon-bin on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install epsilon-bin Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install epsilon-bin using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install epsilon-bin

Install epsilon-bin Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install epsilon-bin using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install epsilon-bin

Install epsilon-bin Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install epsilon-bin using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install epsilon-bin

How To Uninstall epsilon-bin on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the epsilon-bin package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove epsilon-bin

Uninstall epsilon-bin And Its Dependencies

To uninstall epsilon-bin and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove epsilon-bin

Remove epsilon-bin Configurations and Data

To remove epsilon-bin configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge epsilon-bin

Remove epsilon-bin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove epsilon-bin configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge epsilon-bin
