How To Install dnssec-trigger on Kali Linux

What is dnssec-trigger

dnssec-trigger is:

Dnssec-trigger reconfigures the local unbound DNS server. This unbound DNS server performs DNSSEC validation, but dnssec-trigger will signal it to use the DHCP obtained forwarders if possible, and fallback to doing its own AUTH queries if that fails, and if that fails prompt the user via dnssec-trigger-applet the option to go with insecure DNS only.

There are three methods to install dnssec-trigger on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dnssec-trigger Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dnssec-trigger using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dnssec-trigger

Install dnssec-trigger Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dnssec-trigger using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dnssec-trigger

Install dnssec-trigger Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dnssec-trigger using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dnssec-trigger

How To Uninstall dnssec-trigger on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the dnssec-trigger package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dnssec-trigger

Uninstall dnssec-trigger And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dnssec-trigger and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dnssec-trigger

Remove dnssec-trigger Configurations and Data

To remove dnssec-trigger configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dnssec-trigger

Remove dnssec-trigger configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dnssec-trigger configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dnssec-trigger
