How To Install clojure on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install clojure on Kali Linux. clojure is Lisp dialect for the JVM

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install clojure on Kali Linux.

What is clojure

Clojure is a dynamic programming language that targets the Java Virtual Machine. It is designed to be a general-purpose language, combining the approachability and interactive development of a scripting language with an efficient and robust infrastructure for multithreaded programming. Clojure is a compiled language - it compiles directly to JVM bytecode, yet remains completely dynamic. Every feature supported by Clojure is supported at runtime. Clojure provides easy access to the Java frameworks, with optional type hints and type inference, to ensure that calls to Java can avoid reflection.

Clojure is a dialect of Lisp, and shares with Lisp the code-as-data philosophy and a powerful macro system. Clojure is predominantly a functional programming language, and features a rich set of immutable, persistent data structures. When mutable state is needed, Clojure offers a software transactional memory system and reactive Agent system that ensure clean, correct, multithreaded designs.

There are three ways to install clojure on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install clojure Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install clojure using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install clojure

Install clojure Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install clojure using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install clojure

Install clojure Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install clojure using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install clojure

How To Uninstall clojure on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the clojure package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove clojure

Uninstall clojure And Its Dependencies

To uninstall clojure and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove clojure

Remove clojure Configurations and Data

To remove clojure configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge clojure

Remove clojure configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove clojure configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge clojure
