How To Install bbswitch-dkms on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install bbswitch-dkms on Kali Linux.

What is bbswitch-dkms

bbswitch-dkms is:

bbswitch is a kernel module which automatically detects the required ACPI calls for two kinds of Optimus laptops. It has been verified to work with “real” Optimus and “legacy” Optimus laptops (at least, that is what the author Lekensteyn calls those).

This package uses DKMS to automatically build the bbswitch kernel module.

There are three methods to install bbswitch-dkms on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install bbswitch-dkms Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install bbswitch-dkms using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install bbswitch-dkms

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install bbswitch-dkms using apt by running the following command:
