How To Install tlf on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tlf on Kali Linux.
What is tlf
tlf is:
TLF is a curses based console mode general logging and contest program for amateur radio.
It supports the CQWW, the WPX, the ARRL-DX, the ARRL-FD, the PACC and the EU SPRINT shortwave contests (single operator) as well as a lot more basic contests, general QSO and DXpedition mode.
It interfaces with cwdaemon or winkeyer daemon for morse code generation and with your sound card for CW/VOICE keying, connects to a number of radios via the Hamlib library and has a built-in client for DX cluster connection.
There are three methods to install tlf on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tlf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tlf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tlfInstall tlf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tlf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tlfInstall tlf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tlf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tlfHow To Uninstall tlf on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the tlf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tlfUninstall tlf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tlf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tlfRemove tlf Configurations and Data
To remove tlf configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tlfRemove tlf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tlf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tlfDependencies
