nagios-images is:

nagios-images contains an assortment of dfsg-free images and icons for use in the web frontend of the nagios system.

Nagios is a host/service/network monitoring and management system. It has the following features:

  • Monitoring of network services (via TCP port, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, NNTP, PING, etc.)
  • Plugin interface to allow for user-developed service checks
  • Contact notifications when problems occur and get resolved (via email, pager, or user-defined method)
  • Ability to define event handlers to be run during service or host events (for proactive problem resolution)
  • Web output (current status, notifications, problem history, log file, etc.)

There are three methods to install nagios-images on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nagios-images Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nagios-images using apt-get by running the following command:

Install nagios-images Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nagios-images using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nagios-images

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nagios-images

To remove nagios-images configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nagios-images
