How To Install dcraw on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dcraw on Kali Linux.
What is dcraw
This utility converts the native (RAW), format of various digital cameras into netpbm portable pixmap (.ppm) or TIFF images. Supports the following models: Canon, Kodak, Olympus, Nikon, Fuji, Minolta and Sigma (see http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/ for full list) Note: This utility does not read directly from the cameras, only the files after they have been downloaded, use gphoto2 for that.
There are three ways to install dcraw on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dcraw Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dcraw using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dcraw
Install dcraw Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dcraw using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dcraw
Install dcraw Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dcraw using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dcraw
How To Uninstall dcraw on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dcraw package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dcraw
Uninstall dcraw And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dcraw and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dcraw
Remove dcraw Configurations and Data
To remove dcraw configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dcraw
Remove dcraw configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dcraw configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dcraw
