How To Install autosuspend on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install autosuspend on Kali Linux.
What is autosuspend
autosuspend is:
A daemon to automatically suspend and wake up a system. Inactivity and wake up times are determined by a set of configurable checks. Autosuspend periodically executes these checks, and if none of them indicated activity, the system is suspended and automatically woken up if necessary.
Autosuspend does not depend on X11 and desktop environments and is therefore specifically intended for (home) servers. Most available checks address these usage scenarios. Yet, also the X11 idle time can be used as a check to support graphical use cases.
There are three methods to install autosuspend on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install autosuspend Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install autosuspend using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install autosuspendInstall autosuspend Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install autosuspend using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install autosuspend using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the autosuspend package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove autosuspendUninstall autosuspend And Its Dependencies
To uninstall autosuspend and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove autosuspendRemove autosuspend Configurations and Data
To remove autosuspend configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge autosuspendRemove autosuspend configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove autosuspend configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
