How To Install vim-ansible on CentOS 8

vim-ansible is Vim plugin for syntax highlighting ansible’s common filetypes

In this tutorial we learn how to install vim-ansible on CentOS 8.

What is vim-ansible

This is a vim syntax plugin for Ansible 2.x, it supports YAML playbooks, Jinja2 templates, and Ansible’s hosts files.

We can use yum or dnf to install vim-ansible on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install vim-ansible.

Install vim-ansible on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install vim-ansible using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install vim-ansible

After updating yum database, We can install vim-ansible using yum by running the following command:

How To Uninstall vim-ansible on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the vim-ansible package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove vim-ansible
