How To Install uw-imap on CentOS 8

uw-imap is UW Server daemons for IMAP and POP network mail protocols

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install uw-imap on CentOS 8.

What is uw-imap

The uw-imap package provides UW server daemons for both the IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and POP (Post Office Protocol) mail access protocols. The POP protocol uses a “post office” machine to collect mail for users and allows users to download their mail to their local machine for reading. The IMAP protocol allows a user to read mail on a remote machine without downloading it to their local machine.

We can use yum or dnf to install uw-imap on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install uw-imap.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh
