In this tutorial we learn how to install tuned-utils-systemtap on CentOS 8.

What is tuned-utils-systemtap

This package contains several systemtap scripts to allow detailed manual monitoring of the system. Instead of the typical IO/sec it collects minimal, maximal and average time between operations to be able to identify applications that behave power inefficient (many small operations instead of fewer large ones).

We can use yum or dnf to install tuned-utils-systemtap on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tuned-utils-systemtap.

Install tuned-utils-systemtap on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall tuned-utils-systemtap on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the tuned-utils-systemtap package we can use the following command:
