How To Install rsync on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install rsync on CentOS 8.
What is rsync
Rsync uses a reliable algorithm to bring remote and host files into sync very quickly. Rsync is fast because it just sends the differences in the files over the network instead of sending the complete files. Rsync is often used as a very powerful mirroring process or just as a more capable replacement for the rcp command. A technical report which describes the rsync algorithm is included in this package.
We can use yum or dnf to install rsync on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rsync.
Install rsync on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install rsync using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install rsync
Install rsync on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall rsync on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the rsync package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove rsync
