In this tutorial we learn how to install aspell on CentOS 8.
What is aspell
GNU Aspell is a spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. It can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker. Its main feature is that it does a much better job of coming up with possible suggestions than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language, including Ispell and Microsoft Word. We can use yum or dnf to install aspell on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install aspell.
Install aspell on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:
