How To Install unicode-cldr-core on Ubuntu 22.04

What is unicode-cldr-core
unicode-cldr-core is:
Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR) provides key building blocks for software to support the world’s languages, with the largest and most extensive standard repository of locale data available. This data is used by a wide spectrum of companies for their software internationalization and localization, adapting software to the conventions of different languages for such common software tasks.
CLDR uses the XML format provided by UTS #35: Unicode Locale Data Markup Language (LDML). LDML is a format used not only for CLDR, but also for general interchange of locale data, such as in Microsoft’s .NET.
This unicode-cldr-core provides the core of the upstream CLDR data from the core.zip file under the /usr/share/unicode/cldr/common directory.
There are three methods to install unicode-cldr-core
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install unicode-cldr-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install unicode-cldr-core
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install unicode-cldr-core
Install unicode-cldr-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install unicode-cldr-core
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install unicode-cldr-core
Install unicode-cldr-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install unicode-cldr-core
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install unicode-cldr-core
How To Uninstall unicode-cldr-core on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the unicode-cldr-core
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove unicode-cldr-core
Uninstall unicode-cldr-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall unicode-cldr-core
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove unicode-cldr-core
Remove unicode-cldr-core Configurations and Data
To remove unicode-cldr-core
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge unicode-cldr-core
Remove unicode-cldr-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove unicode-cldr-core
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge unicode-cldr-core
