How To Install unagi on Ubuntu 22.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install unagi
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is unagi
unagi is:
Unagi is a modular compositing manager which aims to be efficient, lightweight and responsive. It is currently written in C programming language and based on XCB library client library. Any existing window manager (such as Awesome) can be used as long as it implements properly EWMH and ICCCM specifications (or at least needed), which is generally the case nowadays.
It also aims to provide a functional and stable software to improve window manager usability from an end-user point of view (for instance windows translucency, application-switcher using live thumbnails instead of plain icons, Exposé…), therefore it does not intend at all to provide useless eye-candy effects.
There are three methods to install unagi
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install unagi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install unagi
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install unagi
Install unagi Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install unagi
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install unagi
Install unagi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install unagi
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install unagi
How To Uninstall unagi on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the unagi
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove unagi
Uninstall unagi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall unagi
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove unagi
Remove unagi Configurations and Data
To remove unagi
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge unagi
Remove unagi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove unagi
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge unagi
