How To Install uim-xim on Debian 11

What is uim-xim
uim-xim is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package provides a bridge allowing software that can only interface with the X Input Method to work with uim.
There are three methods to install uim-xim
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim-xim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-xim
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim-xim

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-xim
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uim-xim
Install uim-xim Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-xim
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim-xim
How To Uninstall uim-xim on Debian 11
To uninstall only the uim-xim
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim-xim
Uninstall uim-xim And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim-xim
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-xim
Remove uim-xim Configurations and Data

configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uim-xim
