How To Install tlp on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install tlp
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is tlp
tlp is:
TLP is a feature-rich command-line utility, saving laptop battery power without the need to delve deeper into technical details.
TLP’s default settings are already optimized for battery life and implement Powertop’s recommendations out of the box. Moreover TLP is highly customizable to fulfil specific user requirements.
Settings are organized into two profiles, allowing to adjust between savings and performance independently for battery (BAT) and AC operation. In addition TLP can enable or disable Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and WWAN radio devices on boot.
For ThinkPads and selected other laptops it provides a unified way to configure charge thresholds and recalibrate the battery.
There are three methods to install tlp
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tlp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tlp
using apt-get

How To Uninstall tlp on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the tlp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tlp
Uninstall tlp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tlp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tlp
Remove tlp Configurations and Data
To remove tlp
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tlp
