How To Install swift-proxy on Ubuntu 22.04

What is swift-proxy
swift-proxy is:
OpenStack Object Storage (code-named Swift) is open source software for creating redundant, scalable object storage using clusters of standardized servers to store petabytes of accessible data. It is not a file system or real-time data storage system, but rather a long-term storage system for a more permanent type of static data that can be retrieved, leveraged, and then updated if necessary. Primary examples of data that best fit this type of storage model are virtual machine images, photo storage, email storage and backup archiving. Having no central “brain” or master point of control provides greater scalability, redundancy and permanence.
Objects are written to multiple hardware devices in the data center, with the OpenStack software responsible for ensuring data replication and integrity across the cluster. Storage clusters can scale horizontally by adding new nodes. Should a node fail, OpenStack works to replicate its content from other active nodes. Because OpenStack uses software logic to ensure data replication and distribution across different devices, inexpensive commodity hard drives and servers can be used in lieu of more expensive equipment.
This package provides a proxy server on which clients can connect to store object into Swift.
There are three methods to install swift-proxy on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install swift-proxy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install swift-proxy using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install swift-proxy
Install swift-proxy Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install swift-proxy using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install swift-proxy
Install swift-proxy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install swift-proxy using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install swift-proxy
How To Uninstall swift-proxy on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the swift-proxy package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove swift-proxy
Uninstall swift-proxy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall swift-proxy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove swift-proxy
Remove swift-proxy Configurations and Data
To remove swift-proxy configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge swift-proxy
Remove swift-proxy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove swift-proxy configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge swift-proxy
