How To Install srtp-utils on Debian 9

What is srtp-utils
srtp-utils is:
SRTP is a security profile for RTP that adds confidentiality, message authentication, and replay protection to that protocol. It is specified in RFC 3711.
LibSRTP provides an implementation of the Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), the Universal Security Transform (UST), and a supporting cryptographic kernel.
This package contains a few simple binaries using libsrtp.
There are three methods to install srtp-utils
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install srtp-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install srtp-utils
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install srtp-utils

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install srtp-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install srtp-utils
How To Uninstall srtp-utils on Debian 9
To uninstall only the srtp-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove srtp-utils
Uninstall srtp-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall srtp-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove srtp-utils
Remove srtp-utils Configurations and Data
To remove srtp-utils
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge srtp-utils
