How To Install sipp on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sipp on Kali Linux.
What is sipp
sipp is:
SIPp is a free Open Source test tool / traffic generator for the SIP protocol. It includes a few basic SipStone user agent scenarios (UAC and UAS) and establishes and releases multiple calls with the INVITE and BYE methods. It can also reads custom XML scenario files describing from very simple to complex call flows. It features the dynamic display of statistics about running tests (call rate, round trip delay, and message statistics), periodic CSV statistics dumps, TCP and UDP over multiple sockets or multiplexed with retransmission management and dynamically adjustable call rates.
There are three methods to install sipp on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sipp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sipp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sippInstall sipp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sipp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sippInstall sipp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sipp using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sippHow To Uninstall sipp on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sipp package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sippUninstall sipp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sipp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sippRemove sipp Configurations and Data
To remove sipp configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sippRemove sipp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sipp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sippDependencies
