How To Install scmail on Ubuntu 22.04

What is scmail
scmail is:
Scmail is a mail filter written in Scheme, you can write processing recipes in S-expression. Scmail can be used as a filter for an incoming mail, invoked each time by .forward, or it can be used as a mail processor to distribute existing mails into the right mailbox. It comes with a bayesian spam filter called scbayes.
There are three methods to install scmail
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scmail Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install scmail
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install scmail

After updating apt database, We can install scmail

by running the following command:

Install scmail Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall scmail on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the scmail

sudo apt-get -y autoremove scmail
Remove scmail Configurations and Data
To remove scmail
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scmail
