How To Install rplay-server on Ubuntu 22.04

What is rplay-server

This package contains the rplay server. The rplay server allows sounds to be played on the system.
RPlay allows sounds to be played to and from local and remote Unix systems. Sounds can be played with or without sending audio data over the network using either UDP or TCP/IP. RPlay audio servers can be configured to share sound files with each other.
Support for RPlay is included in several applications. These include xpilot, xlockmore, xboing, fvwm, and ctwm.
There are three methods to install rplay-server
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install rplay-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rplay-server
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install rplay-server

Install rplay-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rplay-server
using aptitude

How To Uninstall rplay-server on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the rplay-server
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rplay-server

To uninstall rplay-server
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rplay-server
Remove rplay-server Configurations and Data
To remove rplay-server
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rplay-server
