How To Install python-openscap on Debian 9

What is python-openscap
python-openscap is:
OpenSCAP is a set of open source libraries providing an easier path for integration of the SCAP line of standards. SCAP is a line of standards managed by NIST with the goal of providing a standard language for the expression of Computer Network Defense related information.
The intended scope of this project is to implement working interface wrappers for parsing and querying SCAP content including:
- Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE)
- Common Configuration Enumeration (CCE)
- Common Platform Enumeration (CPE)
- Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS)
- Extensible Configuration Checklist Description Format (XCCDF)
- Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language (OVAL)
This package contains the Python bindings for OpenSCAP.
There are three methods to install python-openscap on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-openscap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openscap using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-openscap
Install python-openscap Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openscap using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-openscap
Install python-openscap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openscap using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-openscap
How To Uninstall python-openscap on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-openscap package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-openscap
Uninstall python-openscap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-openscap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-openscap
Remove python-openscap Configurations and Data
To remove python-openscap configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-openscap
Remove python-openscap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-openscap configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-openscap
