How To Install proton-caller on Ubuntu 22.04

What is proton-caller
proton-caller is:
Proton-caller allows you to run any Windows program through Valve’s Proton compatibility layer as easy as running it with WINE. Simply configure your Steam and common directories, and run the executable with proton-call -r foo.exe. Other usage examples can be found in the manual page. The last arguments are passed to the windows executable.
There are three methods to install proton-caller on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install proton-caller Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install proton-caller using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install proton-caller
Install proton-caller Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install proton-caller using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install proton-caller
Install proton-caller Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install proton-caller using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install proton-caller
How To Uninstall proton-caller on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the proton-caller package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove proton-caller
Uninstall proton-caller And Its Dependencies
To uninstall proton-caller and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove proton-caller
Remove proton-caller Configurations and Data
To remove proton-caller configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge proton-caller
Remove proton-caller configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove proton-caller configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge proton-caller
