How To Install primus-libs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install primus-libs on Kali Linux.
What is primus-libs
primus-libs is:
Primus is a shared library that provides OpenGL and GLX APIs and implements low-overhead local-only client-side OpenGL offloading via GLX forking, similar to VirtualGL. It intercepts GLX calls and redirects GL rendering to a secondary X display, presumably driven by a faster GPU. On swapping buffers, rendered contents are read back using a PBO and copied onto the drawable it was supposed to be rendered on in the first place.
This package contains the libraries for primus which are loaded when running primusrun.
There are three methods to install primus-libs on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install primus-libs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install primus-libs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install primus-libsInstall primus-libs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install primus-libs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install primus-libsInstall primus-libs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install primus-libs using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install primus-libsHow To Uninstall primus-libs on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the primus-libs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove primus-libsUninstall primus-libs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall primus-libs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove primus-libsRemove primus-libs Configurations and Data
To remove primus-libs configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge primus-libsRemove primus-libs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove primus-libs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
