What is orthanc-gdcm
orthanc-gdcm is:
This package installs a plugin for Orthanc, the lightweight, RESTful Vendor Neutral Archive for medical imaging. The plugin extends Orthanc with a transcoder/decoder of DICOM images that is built on the GDCM library, whereas the built-in transcoder/decoder of Orthanc uses DCMTK.
This plugin is notably necessary for Orthanc to be able to transcode and decode JPEG2k transfer syntaxes.
There are three methods to install orthanc-gdcm
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install orthanc-gdcm
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install orthanc-gdcm
How To Uninstall orthanc-gdcm on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the orthanc-gdcm
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove orthanc-gdcm
Uninstall orthanc-gdcm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall orthanc-gdcm
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove orthanc-gdcm
Remove orthanc-gdcm Configurations and Data
To remove orthanc-gdcm
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge orthanc-gdcm
Remove orthanc-gdcm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove orthanc-gdcm
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge orthanc-gdcm
