How To Install nsis on Kali Linux

What is nsis

nsis is:

NSIS is a tool for creating quick and user friendly installers for Microsoft Windows (Win32) operating systems.

NSIS creates installers that are capable of installing, uninstalling, setting system settings, extracting files, etc. Because it’s based on script files, you can fully control every part of your installers. The script language supports variables, functions, string manipulation, just like a normal programming language - but designed for the creation of installers. Even with all these features, NSIS is still the smallest installer system available. With the default options, it has an overhead of only 34 KB.

There are three methods to install nsis on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nsis Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nsis using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install nsis

Install nsis Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install nsis using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install nsis

Install nsis Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nsis using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nsis

How To Uninstall nsis on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the nsis package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nsis

Uninstall nsis And Its Dependencies

To uninstall nsis and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nsis

Remove nsis Configurations and Data

To remove nsis configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nsis

Remove nsis configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove nsis configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nsis
