OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller. In addition to its “native” API (the OpenStack API), it also supports the Amazon EC2 API.
Nova is intended to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. It supports many different hypervisors (KVM and Xen to name a few), different database backends (SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, for instance), different types of user databases (LDAP or SQL), etc.
This package provides the serial proxy. It is a publically reachable component which proxies access to qemu-space running on compute nodes
There are three methods to install nova-serialproxy on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nova-serialproxy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install nova-serialproxy using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-serialproxy using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nova-serialproxy
How To Uninstall nova-serialproxy on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the nova-serialproxy package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nova-serialproxy
Uninstall nova-serialproxy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nova-serialproxy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-serialproxy
Remove nova-serialproxy Configurations and Data
To remove nova-serialproxy configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nova-serialproxy
Remove nova-serialproxy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nova-serialproxy configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nova-serialproxy
