How To Install libecl-dev on Ubuntu 22.04

on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libecl-dev
libecl-dev is:
ECL stands for Embeddable Common-Lisp. The ECL project is an effort to modernize Giuseppe Attardi’s ECL environment to produce an implementation of the Common-Lisp language which complies to the ANSI X3J13 definition of the language.
The current ECL implementation features:
- A bytecodes compiler and interpreter.
- A translator to C.
- A UFFI-compatible interface to C code.
- A dynamic loader.
- The possibility to build standalone executables and DLLs.
- The Common-Lisp Object System (CLOS).
- Conditions and restarts for handling errors.
- Sockets as ordinary streams.
- The GNU Multiprecision library for fast bignum operations.
- A simple conservative mark & sweep garbage collector.
- The Boehm-Weiser garbage collector.

There are three methods to install libecl-dev
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install libecl-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libecl-dev
using apt-get

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libecl-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libecl-dev
Install libecl-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libecl-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libecl-dev
How To Uninstall libecl-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libecl-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libecl-dev
Uninstall libecl-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libecl-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libecl-dev
Remove libecl-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libecl-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libecl-dev
Remove libecl-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libecl-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libecl-dev
