Both a DTD and an XML schema for CIFs are presented. CIFs can be read, edited, validated syntactically, sorted, normalized, filtered, stored as an XML document object model, transformed and output. CIFXOM provides an easy way of converting CIFs to XML and vice versa using Java.

There are three methods to install libcifxom-java on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
