How To Install joe-jupp on Ubuntu 22.04

What is joe-jupp
joe-jupp is:
This package contains symbolic links to replace the Debian joe package using the jupp package’s JOE implementation (binaries and manpages). It also contains the appropriate conffiles and, in contrast to Debian’s joe flavour, supports SELinux context copying (on Debian systems with the Linux kernel), and has many bugs fixed and makes some of jupp’s new features available to the joe, jstar, jmacs, jpico and rjoe flavours.
There are three methods to install joe-jupp
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install joe-jupp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install joe-jupp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install joe-jupp
Install joe-jupp Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install joe-jupp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install joe-jupp
Install joe-jupp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install joe-jupp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install joe-jupp
How To Uninstall joe-jupp on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the joe-jupp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove joe-jupp
Uninstall joe-jupp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall joe-jupp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove joe-jupp
Remove joe-jupp Configurations and Data
To remove joe-jupp
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge joe-jupp
