What is hmmer2-pvm

hmmer2-pvm is:

HMMER is an implementation of profile hidden Markov model methods for sensitive searches of biological sequence databases using multiple sequence alignments as queries.

Given a multiple sequence alignment as input, HMMER builds a statistical model called a “hidden Markov model” which can then be used as a query into a sequence database to find (and/or align) additional homologues of the sequence family.

This package contains HMMER programs compiled with PVM support.

There are three methods to install hmmer2-pvm on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install hmmer2-pvm Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install hmmer2-pvm using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install hmmer2-pvm

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
